Episode 185. Minder Kaur Athwal: Improv & Play for Wellbeing

In this episode, we're joined by Minder Kaur Athwal. Minder has been improvising her way through life for decades but found improvised comedy six years ago as a way to help manage her anxiety and depression. She has trained as a facilitator with the Old Vic Theatre and is now an applied improv workshop leader. She regularly takes part in international panels, Q&As and conference talks and in 2019 led a session at the Global Improvisation Symposium.

Minder is one half of improv performing duo Honey Badger, a member of the all female theatre collective The Party Somewhere Else and a member of the Edinburgh International Improv Festival’s advisory board. She brings her knowledge and skills from her varied career to her improv work.

In this episode, we explore:

  • improv

  • 'winging it'

  • networking

  • thinking on your feet

  • facing rejection

  • going outside your comfort zone

and loads more.
